Gold and silver prices were trading lower in the morning trade on Friday due to subdued demand of precious metals from jewellers and retailers.
MCX Gold futures were down 0.17 per cent at Rs 31,298 per 10 gram at around 11.45 am (IST), while MCX Silver futures were down 1.12 per cent at 36,263 per 1 kg at around the same time.
A sharp jump in dollar index also keep investors away from safe-haven buying in gold.
